Dr. Venkatesh Karthikeyan is a passionate physician who completed his MD in Community and  Family Medicine from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Patna — an Institute of  National Importance. He is currently serving as a Senior Resident in the Department of  Community and Family Medicine at AIIMS Patna.
With over a decade of leadership in the medical fraternity, Dr. Venkatesh holds key positions at  both national and international levels. He is the Publications Director (JDN) of the World Medical  Association and National Convenor (AMR) at the Indian Medical Association. His academic and research interests are wide-ranging, with more than 20 scientific publications and involvement in over 20 research projects in collaboration with reputed organizations such as the World Health Organization, UNICEF, NIMHANS, and the World NCD Federation. He has led several impactful initiatives, including the launch of a 24x7 mental health helpline for  doctors, reflecting his commitment to the well-being of the medical community.

Future Vision for IACFM
Strengthen the Association’s Membership Base by expanding outreach and  engagement, especially among residents and young faculties.
● Promote Inclusivity by ensuring representation across institutions, regions, and
professional hierarchies.
● Address Legal and Recognition Issues pertaining to the Community and Family Medicine  (CFM) specialty by engaging with relevant regulatory and government bodies.
● Foster National and International Collaborations with academic institutions, public health  agencies, and professional networks to elevate the profile of CFM.
● Build Institutional Capacity of IACFM to independently apply for research grants, execute  projects, and influence public health policy.
● Enhance Visibility and Advocacy of the CFM specialty through events, publications, and
position papers.
● Create a Mentorship Ecosystem to support career growth of residents and early-career  faculty in CFM.
● Champion Skill-Building and Continuing Education through workshops, CME programs,  and digital learning platforms.
Dr. Venkatesh believes that by building a strong, collaborative, and action-oriented IACFM, the discipline of Community and Family Medicine can be positioned as a cornerstone of India’s
public health system.
